Job Title: Digital Fundraising Intern

Reporting to: CEO

Terms: Six months with possibility of extension

Hours: Part-time (three/four days per week)


Ethiopiaid Ireland is a small charity dedicated to working towards improving people’s lives throughout Ethiopia, especially women and girls, providing them with access to quality education, healthcare and a life of dignity. We are now seeking a driven and passionate intern to support our digital fundraising through online activity.

Outline and purpose of role

Ethiopiaid Ireland raises funds from individuals, companies and events to support projects in Ethiopia which are creating sustainable change to improve the lives of the most vulnerable in Ethiopia.

This internship is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience of Ethiopiaid’s work and of its fundraising streams. It will be of particular interest to someone wanting to gain knowledge of and experience supporting digital fundraising, using creative ideas throughout all online platforms. As an intern, you will provide general support at Ethiopiaid external events including private fundraising events and public events e.g. attending university awareness raising events.

This role is joining a small team of currently just two people within Ethiopiaid Ireland. You will have a passion for development and the desire to show strong initiative and excellent writing skills.


Key responsibilities:

Duties will be tailored to meet the learning objectives of a successful internship candidate. If you have a particular interest in developing fundraising skills.


 Support on the development of plans for individual donor recruitment across telephone, marketing and digital communications

 Support the implementation of creative campaigns to increase supporters and provide income generation

 Support with the design of fundraising material and co-ordination of marketing appeals

 Contribute to identifying and researching new opportunities to support income generation

 Offer a wide range of digital marketing creative ideas including short web videos, infographics and audio interviews where required for fundraising use

 Attend external events to promote the work of Ethiopiaid and increase individual involvement

 Recruit and encourage participants for Ethiopiaid annual events

 Routinely provide high-quality written content for our various audiences throughout Ireland


Other duties and projects as assigned by the CEO.

The successful candidate will have:


 Excellent social media skills and experience through digital communications 

 Excellent organisational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work towards deadlines

 The ability to master complex topics quickly and translate them into simple language and powerful messages

 Strong organisational skills: ability to effectively execute detail-oriented tasks with the appropriate sense of urgency and priority

 Desire to learn, develop and advance personal career prospects

 Keen interest in digital communications and fundraising


 Experience of organising events for fundraising purposes an advantage

 Knowledge of CRM systems (ideally Raisers Edge)

 A passion for the programmes Ethiopiaid delivers through their partner organisations in Ethiopia

The role is based in our friendly office in Dublin City Centre. The part-time hours are flexible and can be discussed at interview stage. The role is offered on a six month contract with the potential for extension.
