Ethiopiaid’s E300 Overseas Cycle Challenge

From the 1st – 8th of October 2020 Ethiopiaid are offering you a once in a lifetime chance to experience the stunning landscape, culture and country of Ethiopia.

This seven-day trip will combine four days of cycling with sightseeing in Addis Ababa and visits to projects supported by Ethiopiaid in the Tigray region.

Your E300 ride is a challenging 300-mile route from Mekelle through Hagere Selam, Adigrat, Axum and Abbi Adiy before returning to Mekelle. On each of the four cycling days you will be cycling between 65 and 82 miles.

This trip is open to all so if you know of friends, family or groups who would be interested please do share this! Or if you would like to hear more about this click here, and please do give us a call in the office: 01 677 5188 or  087 093 6031

Your route takes place in the heart of the stunningly beautiful region of the Gheralta Mountains and Adwa Mountains. Many of the tarmac roads used for the ride are newly laid and are perfect for cycling with little or no traffic. Cycling is part of the culture in the province of Tigray and cyclists are treated with respect by local people.

Worried about being able to keep up? Your ride will be fully supported with support vehicles, guides and mechanics. Our support team comprises former professional cyclists from Mekelle and Addis Ababa who have considerable expertise in delivering tours to international clients. We will be met in Addis by former track and field GB athlete Richard Nerurkar who is also a member of the Ethio Cycling Holidays support team.

You’ll receive detailed route maps with profiles for each stage before the start of the trip, and there will be refreshment stations throughout each stage. The total cost of the trip will be €4,140 pp.

The cost of the trip will cover:

  • All flights to Ethiopia and domestic flights to and from Mekelle
  • 7 night’s hotel accommodation
  • All meals including a celebration meal at the end of the ride
  • All transfers and ground transportation
  • Support vehicles and guides for the ride, plus refreshments
  • Specially designed bike jersey, bib shorts and cap
  • Guided sightseeing in Addis Ababa
