Dinge spent 1 year and 3 months at one of AWSAD’s safe houses having been refereed by a community support officer. When she arrived at AWSAD, Dinge was 8 months pregnant having been raped. She told us that she felt that she had nobody to turn to, and wanted to die.
We asked Dinge how she felt now, having been supported by AWSAD and reintegrated back into her community with her 18 month old daughter, Seefan. She just told us that she felt empowered; having developed skills, independence and hope for a better life. Whilst at AWSAD, Dinge trained in carpet weaving – a career she has further developed since rejoining her community.
Her hopes for the future are to continue working and to educate her baby. She hopes to give them both a better life.
